About Me

You spend hours scrolling on social media, comparing yourself to all those perfect lives. Instead of feeling connected, it makes you feel like sh*t. Like something is wrong with you. You feel like you’re not normal, and for some reason undeserving of those perfect lives that others have. Because your life is far from perfect, and you’ve been through things you don’t like to talk about.

You’re not alone.

Many of us feel isolated, stuck, and misunderstood. Life can be really f*cked up, and so unfair sometimes. And we live in a world where social injustice is so glaring to some, and denied by others. It’s no wonder why we feel so disconnected. And while the world keeps turning, you feel overwhelmed, stressed out, and alone in your thoughts of never being good enough.

You want to stop second guessing yourself. Stop obsessing over right or wrong decisions. You want to feel worthy & capable.

I get it. I know the feeling.

We all just want to feel comfortable in who we are, and know someone is out there that gets us. And that’s where I come in… I can help. How? First, it means dealing with your sh*t. Really taking a look at what’s holding you back from the life you want, and the person you want to be. Then, figuring out what needs to happen for you to get there. It might mean learning new ways to manage your emotions and relationships, or be challenged in thinking about things in ways you never have. It won’t be easy, but it’ll be worth the change you want to see in your life and in yourself.

As a social worker, I’ve spent 10+ years working with people whose lives were impacted by child abuse, violent relationships, drug addiction, and other messed up stuff no one likes to talk about. I work with clients have struggled with how racism impacts their mental health, or how their sexual orientation or gender identity has isolated them from their family. I became a therapist so I could work towards social change in an intimate way. I wanted to be that person that my client's know has their back and really understands them, in a world where it seems no one understands each other.

What I'm Like In Therapy

Picture
Vanessa Solis, LCSW She/Her/Hers
I know that talking to someone you don’t know can be weird or scary. No worries. I have a laid back, informal style.  I use casual language, nothing fancy, including cursing for emphasis sometimes. I’m not going to sit and stare at you with a blank face and only say “uh huh” and “mmm hmm” the whole time.  I ask a lot of questions, so I can make sure I’m really understanding you. Also, I’m kinda goofy, and we’ll laugh together too.

The most important thing to me is that you feel like you are getting the most out of our work together. I pride myself in providing quality care because I know therapy is an investment and a game changer. I'll encourage you to bring up thoughts and feelings about how you are experiencing our work together, so I know I how I can be as helpful as possible to reach your goals.

I want to hear from you. Let's get your free consultation scheduled.
